Maplets – The Offline Maps App App Reviews

Great map app

I have been using this app for over 3 years now. Its gotten me out of many binds, such as stranded in Milwaukee needing to find public transportation map, and there it is. Or not positive which trail to take out in the national forest. They have a ton of maps which you can access without cell connection, as long as youve downloaded it first. This is a HUGE benefit when you are deep in the wilderness, away from cell connection. My husband and I travel extensively and have come to rely upon Maplets for getting around on the trails. I highly recommend this app.

First impression: amazing!

THIS is the hiking app Ive been looking for! I have a great many hiking opportunities in my area, all of which have their own separate PDF maps. Managing those maps on my phone has always been quite the pain. Ive been looking for an app that would show my position on the hiking trail, but all of them Ive found so far have been lacking in one way or another. Maplets uses those maps and marries them with GPS information from the phone. Brilliant! Finding and downloading new maps couldnt be easier. This is my new favorite app of all time.

Great for reference

To begin, this app is not a topo map app. I use this in conjunction with a topo map app, not in place of one. It is an app which enables you to have copies of the park services maps available for preplanning or on the trails once you head out. It is really convenient to find a park map on your iPad to plan the hike you want to do and to familarize yourself with the trail as it will look on the park service map prior to heading out. Further, the map is downloaded to your iPhone, which means that it is there for you even if you do not have service. We normally take the park service map with us (old habits die hard, I guess), but there was one time when we were on a long loop hike (12 miles) and about two thirds of the way we realized that we left the map in the car with no cell service (and the topo app hadnt downloaded the map). We were thankful we had the map downloaded into Maplets. We found our intersection and headed on our way. The GPS feature is great and helps recalibrate you if you need it.

Awesome App for Hiking

So many maps available and the added GPS is very helpful. No need to cross your fingers and hope there is a paper copy of a trail map on site. Now you can check this app before you make the drive.

So handy!

Maps of many places I visit are available. They are clear and easily enlarged.

Very cool

This is very useful any where you go!!!

Fantastic app

Great app! Highly recommended and user friendly.

Excellent

Well done. Great reference. Works off line and many maps have location abilities. Just hiked the Grand Canyon and was quite handy!

Love it!

I had tried to overlay some of the standard DCR trail maps with a GPS without a lot of success. This app is great. I hope more trail maps get added.

Easy to use, very useful

You need this before going out on a trail

Best maps app hands down

I have never not found what Im looking for. Very nice to have off line maps at the touch of a screen. Never glitches and high resolution images are excellent for those with bad eyes.

Insanely useful

A great idea for an app, well-executed.

Good

Great app could be more stuff

Simply elegant

Great concept and execution. Has really been helpful especially in isolated areas and with minimal battery drain

Great App

I have been backpacking at many national parks and national forests and this app has provided a map for every one. The best part is that it shows your gps location on the map while your phone is in airplane mode.

Best app ever

If you are always on the lookout for a good hike when you travel, this app is incredible! I love it. I do agree with other reviewers: please restore the full screen map view option.

Very Handy!

Lots of maps available for all sorts of activities.

Very helpful App.

I use it when we visit new places we have not been in before. Will use it again when we go travelling to Utah this summer.

Pretty solid app

Pretty solid app. Using it more and more as I get more comfortable with interface. Really like the offline feature.

Excellent for off line maps

My iPad doesnt have cell and WiFi isnt readily available. Maplets is great. Ive used it all over New England, NYC, and now in the Poconos, having downloaded all of the state park maps. Its my primary source when I travel
